Cookie Buffet was born in a trailer in Albany, GA in 1970. Not much is known about her
before moving to Washington in 1996 and frankly, it is probably best we do not know.
Cookie burst on the Washington, DC nightclub scene in January of 1996 under the tutelage
and guidance of Macks Leger and the late great Dana Turrell.
Cookie soon gained notoriety in DC for her fabulous impression of Barbara Bush and her
Drag Poetry presentations at So Ho Coffee and Tea. She also became part of the Polyester
Liberation Organization and in April of 1996, she made her stage debut at Tracks nightclub
as part of the "Runway Revival". She continued to perfect her craft and made
regular appearances at Badlands on Friday nights and Tracks on Saturdays.
In April of 1997 she performed at the first Youth Pride Day and continued to charm the local bar scene in DC with her grace and fearlessness. In September of 1998 she was spotted dancing on stage at Millenium and became a sometime performer there and subsequently part of the Velvet Nation phenomenon with several informal appearances at Tracks, Badlands, Cobalt and Omega. In September of 1999, she participating in a Celebrity Death match Sumo Style performance with Sister Face at Velvet and staged many epic performances at Velvet Nation Nightclub which closed in July 2006
Cookie Buffet has a somewhat unique approach to performance and drag. She is constantly experimenting with different types of songs and her performances range from high-energy techno numbers to opera. Cookie is always looking for new ways of expressing her creativity and in general trying to have fun with the medium. Life is too short for dress rehearsals and Cookie is dedicated to the notion of having a good time and entertaining the club community with her charm and total lack of grace.
